Blitz Torte and One Proud Baker

There are a few recipes that still make me smile the moment I think of them. Blitz torte is one of those.
 
I was quite young when I first started making it. Mutti taught it to me because it was so easy, and I loved how impressed people looked when I brought it out. Back then, I will admit it, I enjoyed the showing off.
 
When I was eleven, I spent part of my summer holidays with my Tante Erika in southern Ontario. I took the 15-hour train ride by myself, and in those days that wasn’t unusual.
