Auswanderer (OWS-vahn-duh-ruh) Literally “one who wanders out” From aus (out) + wandern (to migrate or wander) + -er (a person who does something). An auswanderer is someone who leaves their homeland to settle in another country. Between 1816 and 1914, millions of Germans became Auswanderer, many beginning new lives in North America.
