The first few steps inside the Frauenkirche do the same thing to almost everyone. You look up. The painted dome and the gold altar are working hard overhead, and the room is built to make you crane your neck whether you planned to or not. This is one of the most faithful Baroque reconstructions in the world, and that is not a tourist-board line. I have stood in plenty of grand German churches by now. This one is still among my favorites.
